Turn your best prompt into a skill
Lesson 2 of 3 · Claude & Cowork mastery
1 · Learn the move · Tool choice + routing
A prompt you've run more than twice doesn't belong in your clipboard. It belongs in a Cowork skill you trigger by name. That's the routing call: a one-off stays in chat, a repeatable job becomes a skill. Give it a short name, a one-line 'use this when...' description, and paste your proven prompt as the instructions. The weekly pipeline note you've tuned for a month now runs in one click, with the sourcing discipline baked in.
Turn this into a Cowork skill. name: pipeline-note. description: use when I need the weekly deal-desk pipeline note for the partners. instructions: [paste my proven prompt]. Output it as a paste-ready SKILL.md block.
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
Every Monday you paste the same pipeline-note prompt into a chat by hand. It works. You've tuned it over weeks - the stage order, the sourcing rule, the discipline about which figures may appear. Write the skill definition that turns it into a one-click 'pipeline-note' skill you run instead of re-pasting.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
